Board member Sasha Rabsey visited Kangoya ECD centre with her husband Fred Berkowitz and daughter Olivia Berkowitz, soon after new playgrounds were installed in all of our ECD centres. Here are her reflections from the visit.“As a grant maker at the How Fund, I feel a deep responsibility to my grantees and myself to make site visits to the various organizations that we support. Professionally, site visits provide me with a clearer understanding of the work being done on the ground. This knowledge informs my work as well as strengthens my relationship with the grantee.

On World AIDS December 2008, G.R.A.C.E Africa became one of the 19 grantees to receive the New Partners Initiative (NPI) award out of 700 organizations that had submitted concept papers.
NPI is part of a broader effort within the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to work with new partners, including community and faith based organizations. Their goal is to enhance technical and organizational capacity and ensure the quality of sustainability of HIV/AIDS programs by supporting community ownership.
