Changing the face of Commercial Sex Workers

In October this year, G.R.A.C.E Nanyuki organized a one day workshop on HIV/AIDS for 33 commercial sex workers (CSWs). This workshop follows a series of workshops that G.R.A.C.E has been conducting to provide the CSWs with information on HIV/AIDS, nutrition, sexual decision making and spiritual guidance. A case study conducted by G.R.A.C.E in 2006 indicated that although there were many prostitutes in the town, there were no organizations working with CSWs. In 2007 after a workshop organised by G.R.A.C.E, the CSWs formed Damshel Self Help Group and enthusiastic about gaining business skills as an alternative means of income generation.
