Matutu SDA Dispensary is a faith based organization,non-partisan, non-profit and non –political health institution. Theorganization is a community organization in nature (CBO) that provides healthservices to the local community in Mekenene Location, Mekenene Division, BorabuDistrict.
It was started wayback 1993 and officially registered 1997 with the Ministry of Health (MOH) as aDispensary under FPO institutions. It is located along Kisii-Sotick- NairobiHighway. The facility is a HIV treatment centre which provides free treatmentto HIV patients including Orphans and the vulnerable children and theirsiblings.
The main Mandate wasset aside to improve the health and the quality living standards of the peoplein Matutu community and its Environment. It carries out integrated healthservices that is curative, preventive, child health care, antenatal care,maternity and mobile outreach services
The facility has aHealth Management Committee in place capable of handling funds with transparencyand accountability. Medra partners with Ministry of Health CCD, Aphia Nyanza +,Christian Health Association of Kenya, (CHAK) Marie stops (K) ADRA AFRO
The organization benefited the grant from USAID throughGRACE Africa that supports a total of 240 OVCs in the ECD Centres (MATUTU ANDBORABU) and an addition of 480 older children who are siblings of thoseenrolled and served in the ECD centres. All the 240 OVCs enrolled in the twocentres have befitted from the core services given to the OVCs ranging fromNutrition, Psychosocial Support (PSS), Child protection, Shelter Education andIncome Generating Activities targeting the Caregivers. In addition Medrasupports the caregivers of the identified OVCs with skills in child protection,Psychosocial support (PSS), Nutrition and the establishment and Management ofIncome Generating Activities (IGAs) to enable them to take care of OVCs. Medraas an organization identified six (6) community members who were trained as ECDteachers and an addition of six (6) community youth who work as assistant ECDteachers in the ECD centres and are undergoing Early Childhood Training atMatutu
Adventist ECDE College. Medra Under takes additional activities whichincludes training of the caregivers on food security, Business Management,Psychosocial Support, HIV Prevention and the capacity building of FieldOfficer, programme Officer, Finance Officer and Management Committee members onManagerial, planning & Monitoring and Evaluating skills in all programmes.

MISSION
To promote and participate in integrated and high quality promotive,preventive, Curative and rehabilitative health services
MANDATE
To formulate and set standards, provide health services andthe enabling environment for members of the community that is the OVCs, Widows,Widower, Youth and the Aged old people in the community
GOAL
To improve the health services, encourage economicempowerment through community mobilization, prevention and control measures byinvolving community participation in all forums
OBJECTIVES
● To sensitize, mobilize and provide counsellingand testing and reach minimum of 2000 target clients of the most risk groups (youth, couples, pregnant women and their partners, older OVCs and the adults )on CT/PMTCT services in the generalpopulation by the end of quarter one.
● To assist the PWLGAS with on opportunisticinfections, ARVs for suppressing the virus activity and OVCs support
● To assist the PAWLHAs with counselling servicesand encourage them to be attending VCT, PITC, PSC, PWP peer group forcontinuous testing and assisting to them to bust testing clubs.
● To encourage youth to participate in youthactivities and hence to establish youth friendly resource centre.
● Above all Medra provides Education Opportunitiesand support for OVCs at the ECD centres
● To support training to OVC caregivers andcommittee members
● To Develop the capacity and strengthens themanagement on management.
● To collaborate and networks withn local CBOs,FBOs, NGOs, The Government Sectors Development Partners both in Kenya andGlobally
