She is responsible for liaison between partner organizations and G.R.A.C.E. management by fostering goodwill and mutual understanding between G.R.A.C.E. and the public. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Communications and holds a Diploma in Mass Communications and Public Relations. She is also a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya.

Mwende joined G.R.A.C.E. Africa in 2004. She is responsible for maintaining and strengthening G.R.A.C.E.’s contacts with and support of youth groups in Kenya. She travels regularly to in-country project sites for support of action plan implementation, program monitoring, and evaluation. Before joining G.R.A.C.E., Miss Karutu was the Youth Coordinator and counselor at Kibera Community Self Help Program (KICOSHEP). She holds a Diploma in Community Based-Development, Certificate in Voluntary Counselling and Testing, Certificate in HIV/AIDS Counselling, and Diploma in Secretarial Studies.
